Aani Tulugak is the new director of community services for the Inuulitsivik health centre in Puvirnituq, the board of directors and the executive team of Inuulitsivik announced June 19.

Tulugak, a long-time employee of Inuulitsivik, has previously held many different positions at Inuulitsivik.

She started her new position June 4.

Most recently, Tulugak served as the co-ordinator of the Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder file for Inuulitsivik.

Tulugak, who also chaired a clinical project on addictions, made “significant headway in convincing young mothers on the Hudson coast of the many advantages of not drinking during pregnancy,” said a June 19 statement from Inuulitsivik.

“Aani has a wonderful vision for this newly formed department and is anxious to begin developing her views,” it said.

Tulugak is currently visiting the seven Hudson coast communities served by Inuulitsivik to meet with workers in social services and other community-based services.
