Minnie Grey, the executive director of the Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services, has taken a leave from the organization.

In a June 17 news release, the NRBHSS said the organization’s board of directors has appointed Grey’s assistant director, Helen Dion, as acting executive director in Grey’s absence.

Dion’s appointment is “effective immediately,” said the release.

Grey was scheduled to speak June 16 at the 2016 Northern Health Forum in Quebec City, but did not appear at the one-day conference.

The NRBHSS did not indicate the reason or expected length of Grey’s absence.

Grey has served in the role of executive director twice; most recently since 2013.

Before that, Grey has served as a head negotiator for the Nunavik regional government; as chair of a committee focused on youth protection services and as an executive member of the Inuit Circumpolar Council, Makivik Corp. and Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami.
