Nunavut’s turning 15 — how are you going to celebrate?

GN contest seeks storytellers of all kinds

Want to express your love for Canada’s youngest territory, born April 1, 1999?

The Government of Nunavut wants to hear from you. And reward you for it.

The GN is hosting a “Nunavut at 15 contest” and is giving away nine prizes — three prizes per region — to those who best describe how they’re celebrating Nunavut’s 15th birthday.

Prizes include iPads, iPods and country food — all ranging in retail value from $165 to $479.

The contest is open to any Nunavut resident. All you have to do is submit an essay or story of how you’re celebrating the anniversary in any of Nunavut’s four official languages — English, Inuktitut, French and Inuinnaqtun.

The story can be shown in photos, video or a musical performance, a GN press release said.

You have two full months to submit your story or essay. The contest closes May 31.

Hand in your finished product by mail, email, Facebook, Twitter or your local Government Liaison Office.

Winners of the contest will be announced on Nunavut Day in Iqaluit — July 9.
