UPDATE: Ottawa police find missing Nunavut woman, newborn baby

After issuing a plea to the public for information, the Ottawa Police Service located Madeline Atagootak, 20, and her five-week-old baby, Elijah, at about 10:30 p.m. Aug. 30.

“The Ottawa Police Service would like to advise that Atagootak and her baby have been located safe and sound,” police said.

The Inuk woman, who is originally from the Baffin region, had been last seen at around 12 noon, Aug. 26 in the Somerset St. East area of Ottawa, police said.

The woman’s family were concerned for her well-being and that of her child, police said.
