By NUNATSIAQ NEWS

The Arviat Film Society held a launch party for its new local cable television station Nov. 28 at the John Arnalukjuak high school auditorium. The evening featured plenty of local entertainment, including a set by Abe Eetak, Calvin Pameolik and Jamie Okatsiak, pictured here. Viewers in Arviat can now turn to channel 19 to watch new and vintage footage taken in and around the community, showing shots of traditional cooking, drum dancing, Canadian Forces arriving in town by snowmobile or an interview with a local basketball player. Viewers outside of Arviat can also tune in at www.isuma.tv to watch the broadcast. (PHOTO COURTESY OF AFS)
