Which way to the future? A load of directional road signs heads through Rankin Inlet towards the 24-kilometre connector road for Agnico Eagle's Meliadine gold site. Work on the road as well as drilling continues this summer, but on July 24 Agnico Eagle announced big spending reductions on the project. They cut $10 million from this year's exploration budget and cut $80 million from its 2014 budget. Some time next year, they'll likely decide on the future of the project.
