Down, boy, down! Talon, a Czech German Shepherd, is the Nunavut RCMP's newest service dog, having moved to Iqaluit from British Columbia with his handler, Cpl. Stephen Pike, earlier this month. Here, Talon sniffs the front lobby desk of the RCMP building for mock samples of drug caches that Pike has hidden for him. But Pike and Talon have already proven their talents: it took the duo less than 15 minutes to track down an inmate who escaped from the Baffin Correctional Centre Aug. 14. Talon received a plastic Kong toy for a job well done, Pike said. (PHOTO BY THOMAS ROHNER)
