The Airbus company’s newest commercial jet liner, the A350-900, on the Iqaluit airport runway Jan. 24. A crew of 48 engineers and test pilots with the European aircraft manufacturer arrived that day to test the aircraft in extreme cold and dry conditions. “You need an airport with a lot of support, a long runway and lots of parking space to do this kind of thing, and that’s what’s attractive about Iqaluit,” said mayor John Graham, who welcomed the crew to the city on the first day of testing.
