A 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the second degree murder of another man in Rankin Inlet.

At around 7 a.m. July 30, police and Rankin Inlet Emergency Medical Services “responded to a report of a male in medical distress,” Nunavut RCMP said.

The 26-year-old later succumbed to his injuries.

Police have not named the suspect, who is in now custody and scheduled to appear in Iqaluit court Aug. 11, the RCMP said July 31.

Police in Rankin Inlet are currently investigating the death along with the RCMP V Division Major Crimes Unit, RCMP Forensic Identification and Nunavut’s coroner’s office.
