Police seek man in connection with Sept. 26 robbery in Iqaluit

Man threatens delivery driver with scissors before robbing him

Iqaluit RCMP are seeking the public’s help in solving an armed robbery — the second time this week that they have asked the public for tips in solving an armed robbery in the city.

At about 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 26, a man delivering food to the 2200 area of Iqaluit was robbed outside the Ivavik building.

Police say the delivery man was approached by another man who asked for a cigarette. After the delivery man told the man that he did not have any cigarettes, the man assaulted him.

The man also produced a pair of scissors while demanding the delivery man’s money.

A small amount of money was taken by the assailant, who was last seen running towards Apex, police said.

Police are asking for help from the public to find the robber, described as a short Inuk man in his mid 20’s, with a goatee, and wearing a red or black hat with a hoodie.

If you wish to remain anonymous, but would like to provide information that leads to the arrest and conviction of this individual, you may be eligible for up to $2,000 in a cash reward, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)
