Photo: Nunavut’s newest nurse practitioner

By NUNATSIAQ NEWS

Angela Rintoul, who teaches nursing at Nunavut Arctic College in Iqaluit, became Nunavut’s newest nurse practitioner just last week. Nurse practitioners are people who have studied nursing at an advanced level and who are capable of providing services that used to be offered only by physicians. Rintoul, seen here with her son, Connor, began her nursing career in Rankin Inlet in 1997, then moved with her family in 2004 to Iqaluit, where she began teaching at Nunavut Arctic College while continuing with her own studies. “Angela is a true northerner,” Sally Naphan, another Arctic College nursing instructor said.
