Quebec invites Nunavimiut to public meeting

By NUNATSIAQ NEWS

On June 18, a province-wide consultation, inspired by “Town Hall”-type meetings, will hold a day-long session in Kuujjuaq.

In this forum, dubbed “Shine among the best,” the Quebec government is hoping to receive feedback from citizens about what they feel is important and where they think the provincial government should spend money.

“This action program is thus also intended to be a portrait of today’s Quebec. It sets the stage for Quebecers to be fully involved in determining the choices that we will all make together,” said Premier Jean Charest.

The meetings will focus on four themes: health and social services; education, training and employment; regional and sustainable economic development; and family and social development. These meetings will culminate in a Quebec-wide gathering.

Pre-registration for the Kuujjuaq meeting, which is open to the general public, continues until May 4, 2004. To register by phone, contact Communication-Québec, toll-free, at 1-800-363-1363 or consult the Web site at www.briller.gouv.qc.ca.
