Kitikmeot to choose two new KIA VPs and board member for CamBay

Vote takes place throughout the Kitikmeot region March 26

Eligible beneficiaries in Nunavut’s Kitikmeot region head to the polls March 26 to elect a new Kitikmeot Inuit Association board member for Cambridge Bay, a new vice-president of finance for the organization and a new vice-president.

Bob Aknavigak and Jeannie Evalik want to be Cambridge Bay’s representative on the KIA’s board of directors.

Aknavigak, who has served on the KIA board before, has also put his name forward for the position as vice-president of finance for KIA.

Also in the running for the position of vice-president: Remi Krikort of Kugaaruk and Dennis Lyall of Taloyoak.

Attima Hadlari of Cambridge Bay, Jack Kaniak of Kugluktuk and Jimmy Ross Miyok of Kugluktuk are in the running to become vice-president of the KIA.

Eligible voters can vote on March 26 (not on March 29, as was incorrectly advertised in an earlier KIa notice) from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m..

To vote, you must be 16 years of age or older, and enrolled or eligible to enroll under the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement.
