Kitikmeot Inuit Association elects new VPs, new board member for CamBay
Dennis Lyall, Attima Hadlari and Bob Aknavigak return to the KIA
Eligible beneficiaries in Nunavut’s Kitikmeot region voted March 26 to elect a new Kitikmeot Inuit Association board member for Cambridge Bay, as well as a new vice-president of finance for the organization and a new vice-president.
Dennis Lyall of Taloyoak will serve as the KIA’s new vice-president of finance. He was elected with 170 votes over Bob Aknavigak of Cambridge Bay who received 116 and Remi Krikort of Kugaaruk who received 97 votes.
Attima Hadlari of Cambridge Bay becomes the KIA’s new vice-president. He received 246 votes, with Jack Kaniak of Kugluktuk receiving 74 votes and Jimmy Ross Miyok of Kugluktuk receiving 65 votes.
Bob Aknavigak is the new board member for Cambridge Bay. Aknavigak received 49 votes, with Jeannie Evalik receiving 25.
All three elected March 26 have previously served on the KIA’s executive and board.
Turn-out for the March 26 election was 12 per cent.
