Northwestel warns of scheduled internet disruption for Iqaluit March 17

Company techs completing upgrades to DSL service

By NUNATSIAQ NEWS

Northwestel’s DSL internet customers in Iqaluit could see a service disruption on the evening of March 17, the company said in an announcement.

The company said the disruption will occur when its technicians finish work on scheduled upgrades to its DSL service in Iqaluit.

The Northwestel notice said the Iqaluit service disruption will occur at 9 p.m. Pacific time — the same as 12 a.m. eastern.

Northwestel now offers DSL internet in four Nunavut communities: Iqaluit, Rankin Inlet, Cambridge Bay and Arviat.

The company’s Arviat DSL service, which offers download speeds of up to 2.5 Mbps, will be showcased March 19 and March 20 at a community event to be held inside the Arviat Northern store.
