The Qulliit Nunavut Status of Women Council is looking for photos of women at work.
The organization has launched a photography contest to highlight the positive contributions of Nunavummiut women and girls towards their family life and society.
“Women play a significant role in Nunavut and are occupying an increasing number of diverse roles,” Qulliit said in a release, adding that the contest is designed to “promote a change in attitudes within the community in order that women may enjoy equality of opportunity.”
Work includes the ways women support themselves, their family and their community’s economic, technological and cultural development, food security, health and well-being, Qulliit said.
The photos will be featured in an exhibition illustrating women’s contributions set to run later this year.
For information and contest applications, call 1-866-623-0346 or send an email to director@qnsw.ca. The deadline to send photos is Feb. 28.
The winning photo will receive $1,000, with a second-place prize of $500 and third-place prize of $250.
