Nunavut RCMP arrest five, seize coke, ecstasy, hash, weed
Police also seize $9,000 in cash, unlicenced handgun

Five Iqaluit residents face drug-related charges following seizures of cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana and an unlicenced handgun over the past weekend.
Members of the RCMP V Division Federal Operations Section with help from V Division Major Crime Unit and the Iqaluit detachment carried out two search warrants in Iqaluit Aug. 5, an RCMP news release said Aug. 8.
In those raids, police seized roughly 15 ounces of cocaine, a small quantity of marijuana, hashish, and ecstasy, an unlicensed handgun and about $9,000 in cash.
Five Iqaluit residents now face the following charges, the RCMP release said:
• William Allen Pierce, 27: three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance (cocaine and MDMA or methylenedioxy-methamphetamine), possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000, three counts of possession of a controlled substance (cocaine, hashish, MDMA). Pierce appeared in court Aug. 8 at the Nunavut Court of Justice;
• Cole Rennie, 19: possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) and possession of a restricted firearm without holding a proper license;
• Angela Furjes, 18: possession of a controlled substance (cocaine and marijuana);
• Jennifer Kilabuk, 23: possession of a controlled substance (cocaine); and,
• Jasmine Oolayou, 18: possession of a controlled substance (cocaine).
Rennie, Frujes, Kilabuk and Oolayou have been released and are scheduled to appear Nov. 3 in the Nunavut Court of Justice.
“Getting these drugs off the streets creates a safer and healthier community. We encourage everyone to contact your local RCMP Detachment or Crime Stoppers at (1 800 222 8477 (TIPS) if you witness or have any information about a crime,” police said.
