The smell of cigarette smoke is replaced by that of the bacon, eggs and pancakes June 2 at the Anglican parish Hall in Iqaluit, where Nunavut health minister Keith Peterson drops by at the free World No Tobacco Day community breakfast. There, smokers are encouraged to trade in their cigarettes for anti-smoking gifts like tee-shirts and information guides on how to quit smoking. Stats show more than 50 per cent of Nunavummiut over the age of 12, and 80 per cent of pregnant women in the Baffin region smoke on a daily basis. (PHOTO BY DAVID MURPHY)
