Photo: ASIST workshops in Kuujjuaq produce three new trainers

Following a series of Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) workshops held in Kuujjuaq Aug. 18-22, 35 Nunavimmiut have been trained in suicide prevention, while the workshop also produced three new ASIST trainers. The ASIST model, which has been in place in Nunavik since 2006, is for caregivers who want to feel more comfortable, confident and competent in recognizing the risk of suicide and providing support to those at risk of committing suicide.
