Linda Howard (left) of Cambridge Bay thought she was coming to Iqaluit to join the other teammates on Nunavut’s Arctic Winter Games girls’ basketball team for a week of intensive pre-games practice in the city. Instead, Howard and her teammates, along with many other volunteers, helped organize donations of clothing and other items for the victims of Feb. 26’s disastrous fire in Iqaluit at Nunavut Arctic College’s Ukkivik residence. The first load of donations flown to Iqaluit from the South have arrived in Iqaluit and will be unloaded and sorted out by local volunteers Feb. 29. (PHOTO BY DEAN MORRISON)
