Photo: Hudson Coast athletes compete for spots on Nunavik AWG team

Between July 12 and July 15, 77 young athletes from Nunavik's Hudson coast communities gathered in Salluit for the Hudson coast's regional trials, aimed at selecting contestants for Team Nunavik–Québec at the 2014 Arctic Winter Games. The athletes competed in Arctic sports, Dene games, snowshoe racing, badminton and table tennis. Because there was no snow, organizers used outside foot-races for prospective snowshoe racers. Evaluation criteria for athletes included performance, time devoted to training, as well as overall behaviour and attitude. Athlete selection will take place later this summer.
