Nelson Tagoona of Baker Lake raps for 30 people at a free concert held at the Francophone Centre in Iqaluit Sept. 8 as part of the Embrace Life Council’s weekend activities leading up to World Suicide Prevention Day Sept. 10. Tagoona’s messages are embedded in his raps, but he’s also renowned for his “throat-boxing” skills. Tagoona will play at another free concert, which includes a free barbecue at Sylvia Grinnell Park, on Sunday, Sept. 9 from 12 noon until 4:30 p.m. A free shuttle bus will stop ever hour at Nanook School in Apex, Tammaativvik, and Nakasuk School.
