Anti-Stephen Harper activists who have been stencilling the word “Harper” under the word “STOP” on Canadian stop signs across the country have inspired at least one Cambridge Bay resident to broadcast a similar statement on his home, only in Inuktitut: Nutqarrit Harper. Nunavut’s Conservative MP Leona Aglukkaq is in Cambridge Bay today on the campaign trail, while NDP hopeful Jack Anawak, remains en route to the western Nunavut hub from Yellowknife. The election campaign is entering its final month this weekend in the lead up to the Oct. 21 election. Hunter Tootoo is hoping to take the seat for the Liberals and Spencer Rocchi is running for the Green Party, though the Alberta-based teacher admits he’s not really running to win.
