Photo: Police, GN team up for course on child abuse investigation

Nunavut RCMP Sgt. Yvonne Niego speaks to a group of participants from around Baffin at the conclusion of a four-day course on best practices for team investigations of child physical and sexual abuse. Niego, who co-facilitated the course with Nancy Pellerin of the Office of the Representative for Children and Youth, said the course is offered three times annually, once in each region, and participants range from social and mental health workers to nurses, teachers and staff from the Crown prosecutor’s office. The course teaches participants how to investigate disclosures of abuse from children in ways that focus on the child’s safety, health and well-being. Read more later on Nunatsiaqonline.ca.
