Calling all cake bakers and decorators; the Government of Nunavut is hosting a cake decorating contest at this year's Nunavut Day celebrations in Iqaluit. Cakes will be judged on various categories including: overall appeal, creativity, design, neatness and originality and the winner will receive a $300 gift certificate to The Marketplace. To enter, bring your cake to the Igluvut Building in Iqaluit, main lobby by 11 a.m. on Nunavut Day. Judging starts at 11:30 a.m., and the winner will be announced after the speeches by Nunavut dignitaries at the celebrations. And for inspiration: this edible Arctic landscape was made for Nunavut Day 2012 by the Kotierk sisters. (PHOTO COURTESY OF THE GN)
