Baker Lake's Nelson Tagoona mixes throatboxing and inspiration at the third annual Salluit Pigunnaniq Festival which unfolded in that Nunavik village on Dec. 4 and Dec. 5. The third annual festival and talent show featured a range of performers aged 12 to 18 who had been practicing their musical and artistic talents as part of the award-winning Youth Fusion Performing Arts Program, currently in place in seven Kativik School Board schools. Grand prize winners included Liliane Fournier and Elsie Sivuarapik of Puvirnituq and Felicia Kritik and Annie Annanack of Tasiujaq. A number of other awards were handed out including the strongest cultural component which went to Qullik Cain and Annie Lucassie of Aupaluk. (PHOTO BY MAUDE OSTIGUY-LAUZON)
