Photo: Tanya Tagaq takes home Juno for best Aboriginal album

Tanya Tagaq is going to need a new shelf, and a new set of fancy dresses, if she wins any more awards. Tagaq, the experimental throat-singer, songwriter and performance artist from Cambridge Bay added a Juno award to her many recent accolades for Aboriginal Album of the Year March 15 for her critically acclaimed album Animism. The album was also nominated for the Alternative Album of the Year Juno. And if that wasn’t enough, she got the opportunity Sunday night to present, and accept, the Album of the Year award for Leonard Cohen. She did so, above, with help from members of Adventure Club.
