Woman faces attempted murder charge after Sept. 22 incident

Police have arrested an Iqaluit woman and charged her with attempted murder after they found a man Sept. 22 suffering from “serious injuries” when they responded to a call.

In the early morning hours of Sept. 22, members of the RCMP in Iqaluit responded to a call about an assault at a local residence.

When they arrived, they found a man suffering from serious injuries, a news release from the RCMP “V” Division said.

Emergency Health Services transported the man to the Qikiqtani General Hospita,l where he received medical care, the release said.

A investigation by police led to the arrest of a woman, who was later charged with attempted murder, an offence that on conviction can result in a mandatory minimum jail sentence of five years.

The investigation into the incident is continuing.

The RCMP “V” Division said Sept. 23 that an Iqaluit man has been arrested in connection with an another assault, this time on a woman, which police say also took place Sept. 22 in Iqaluit.
