Tides Canada puts Nunavut projects on Top 10 “most innovative leaders” list

Arviat Community Ecotourism Initiative and Pond Inlet Environmental Technology Program received some recognition this week, when Tides Canada, the country’s largest public foundation dedicated to the environment and social justice, listed the centre among its “Top 10 recipients for 2012.”

The Tides Top 10 recognizes Canada’s “Canada’s most innovative leaders working to solve pressing social justice and environmental challenges,” said a news release from the organization.

Since 2003, Tides Canada has annually recognized 10 organizations that inspire people to take action and think in new ways to address environmental and social issues across Canada.

The honour doesn’t come with any money attached — but it’s intended to generate interest among potential donors and supporters.

Last year, Clyde River’s Ilisaqsivik Society was among the Tides Top 10.
