RCMP in Igloolik cope with armed, suicidal 16-year-old
Boy, now in custody, faces six charges
RCMP members in Igloolik managed to cope with a suicidal 16-year-old boy with a firearm June 30, in an incident in which no one was injured and no shots were fired.
Police were called to the incident at around 7:20 a.m. that day, and managed to arrest the boy before anyone was hurt.
Later in the day, the boy was charged with assault, forcible confinement, careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
The boy, whose name may not be published under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is being held at the Igloolik RCMP detachment pending a bail hearing.
