Woman, 28, suffers knife attack inside Hall Beach Northern store

A 28-year-old Hall Beach woman is now in the care of the Qikiqtani Regional Hospital after a man attacked her inside the Hall Beach Northern store May 18.

Police say the man used a knife in the attack and fled the store shortly afterwards.

Joe Aglak, 44, of Hall Beach, is charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon to commit an offence and three counts of breach of probation. He is remanded in custody until his first court appearance, scheduled for June 8 in Iqaluit.

Police said that as of May 19, the woman was in critical but stable condition at the Qikiqtani hospital.
