A message for the self-righteous

By NUNATSIAQ NEWS

This letter is addressed to all the self-righteous, the ones who claim to be holier-than-thou, who go on about what the Bible says about homosexuals. In the Bible, the book of Leviticus, Chapter 20, Verse 13, it says: “If a man lies with a man as he lies with a woman, both have committed an abomination and shall surely be put to death.”

The book of Deuteronomy, Chapter 21, Verses 18 to 21 says: “If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son … will not obey his father and mother … they shall say unto the elders ‘this son will not obey, he is a glutton and a drunkard. The men of the city shall stone him to death.'”

How can anyone truly believe that this is the word of God? To kill your own rebellious son? Although I remain neutral on the subject, I wonder where Jesus would stand on this matter of gay marriages.

Here is what a great Christian mystic once said: “No harm comes from holding yourself to be less than someone else, even if it is not true; but much harm comes from holding yourself to be better than others, even if they are great sinners.” — Thomas A Kempis
