Baker Lake youth charged with firearms offences following gunshots near schools
Police blocked off area Monday night, mayor told residents to stay away
A Baker Lake youth faces a slew of firearms charges following reports of gunshots fired near the community’s schools, the RCMP says.
Police received reports of shots being fired near the schools on Monday evening at 9:20 p.m., the RCMP said in a news release issued Tuesday.
Officers arrived, blocked off the surrounding area and called the mayor to tell residents not to enter that area, RCMP said.
A male youth was quickly found and arrested, RCMP stated. Police did not say the age of the accused.
He faces the following offences: discharge of a firearm with intent, reckless discharge of a firearm, careless use of a firearm, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm and knowledge of unauthorized possession.
