IQALUIT — A mining company has found a one-carat diamond on Baffin Island.

Twin Mining Corp. of Toronto announced last week that it had recovered the diamond on its Jackson Inlet property on the Brodeur Peninsula near Arctic Bay.

The diamond is the largest the company has found during its year of exploration on Baffin Island.

Jackson Inlet is the only diamond property being explored in the Baffin region. Several mining companies are searching for diamonds in the Kitikmeot.

Twin Mining is also searching for diamonds on its Torngat property north of Kangiqsualujjuaq in Nunavik.
