Boarding worth $50 for patients, but $75 for GN employees

Iqaluit Centre MLA Hunter Tootoo wanted health minister Levinia Brown to explain why GN employees receive $75 towards their board in private homes when on duty travel, although when a patient travels the same billet receives only $50 under the Non-Ininsured Health Benefits plan.

“Why is this discrepancy in place?” Tootoo asked. Brown said the health department did not have the funds to boost the amount to equal the amount the GN pays.
