Call 911 for help in Nunavik?

Nunavimmiut have been lobbying for one telephone number which could be dialed during emergencies and would apply for the police, fire brigades, hospitals or nursing stations.

According to Bell Canada, three different numbers would be easier to put into place, and the company has set aside 9111 for police, 9000 for fire departments and 9090 for hospitals or nursing stations.

Anyone wanting to call the above would simply have to dial the first three numbers according to their community and the last four numbers as shown above. For example, the phone number for the police would be 255-9111 in Inukjuak and 964-9111 in Kuujjuaq.
