For the second day in a row, Nunavut has no new COVID-19 cases and no recoveries to report, Premier Joe Savikataaq announced on Twitter Wednesday.

Nine active cases remain in the territory, all in Iqaluit.

Earlier this week the Government of Nunavut announced public health restrictions aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19 in Iqaluit will be relaxed starting Thursday.

The territorial government also announced this week that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine rollout to youth over the age of 12 would begin on June 15.

The first doses will roll out in a mass vaccination clinic in Iqaluit June 16 to 19.

Outside of Iqaluit, Pfizer vaccines will be available by appointment only. Those wishing to book an appointment can call their local health centre.

The Government of Nunavut is scheduled to hold a news briefing on the outbreak in Iqaluit on Friday. Nunatsiaq News will provide coverage at Nunatsiaq.com.
