Jury summonses translated into Inuktitut

In response to a concern raised by Tunnuniq MLA Jobie Nutarak earlier this session about English-only jury summonses, Paul Okalik, the minister of justice, tabled a sample summons written in Inuktitut, English and French.

“I am also pleased to advise that my department has updated the jury summons to include the Inuktitut translation for the person’s name, community, court location within the community, ie. community hall, as well as the date and time the trial is to be held.”
