The family wellness office in Kinngait is closed until July 17 due to a staff shortage, the Family Services department announced Thursday.

The office closed as of Thursday. Limited staffing will be available to provide some services, such as family visits and assisting clients to and from appointments.

Kinngait residents can continue to phone the family wellness centre’s on-call number, available on the GN’s website. For emergencies, the department said residents should contact the local RCMP office.

Offices in communities including Kugluktuk, Kugaaruk and Taloyoak also temporarily closed in recent weeks due to staff shortages.

Service reductions or closures are subject to change based on staff availability, according to the announcement from the department.
