Man convicted in attack on roommate
Daryl Qaqasiq, 25, was found guilty of assault with a weapon and sentenced to three months in jail.
Qaqasiq and a female roommate were arguing on May 1, 2002. Qaqasiq falsely accused the woman of stealing money and held a knife to her throat before striking her head with a closed fist, said Crown lawyer Kevin Drolet.
Qaqasiq had served six weeks in custody when the half-day trial went before the court on Nov. 19.
Qaqasiq was acquitted of assault in connection with an incident alleged to have occurred in front of NorthMart in Iqaluit on July 17, 2001.
