Nunavut judokas return from Edmonton tournament with three medals

Members of Judo Nunavut returned home earlier this month from the Edmonton International Judo Competition, held on March 6 to March 8, with one gold and two silver medals. The judokas, seen here with Judo Nunavut president Robert Tookoome at far right, are, from left: Leetia Stokes, Azrial Tagnigou Petnkeu (gold), Kirsten Sessua Kuengou (silver), Jullien Gissing (silver), Yuri Harvard and Rocco Cannel. “The team did great considering limited competition exposure and lack of opponents to practice with,” said Tookoome. “All other clubs had an advantage as they have more resources and can compete year-round within their region.” (Photo courtesy of Judo Nunavut)

    Congratulations!!
It is great to see Robert’s leadership continuing a great legacy of Judo Nunavut. It has been a great program for almost 20 years, with Nunavummuit competing and winning at the highest levels in Canada.
    Honour our volunteers.

Thanks Gordon, I really did not do much, it was hard work of Tommy Claude Grenier and rest of board members and parents that made this possible. Also we had great coaches from Takahashi Judo club in Ottawa that gaves us great coaching and inspiration.

Thanks to Nathalie Gossin and James for their excellent coaching and guidance during the trournament.

      Robert
