Nunavut’s COVID-19 numbers drop again
Weekend sees big decrease as caseload goes from 27 to 17
Active COVID-19 cases in Nunavut hit a new low this holiday Monday, dropping from 28 to 17 over the course of 24 hours.
There are now 16 active cases in Iqaluit and one in Kinngait, said Premier Joe Savikataaq over Twitter.
“Let’s keep driving down these case numbers, Iqaluit,” he said. “We still have lots of work to do. Stay home and stay safe.”
One new case was reported in Iqaluit on Monday, while 12 recoveries were recorded in the city.
No new cases were reported on Sunday.
Speaking Friday at the government’s COVID-19 news conference, Savikataaq said it’s not yet time for Nunavummiut to let their guard down.
“This virus is not going to disappear,” he said, adding that everyone should continue to mask up, wash their hands, keep six feet apart and get vaccinated.
