Police charge woman after finding methamphetamines bound for Kangiqsualujjuaq
Arrest made by new joint investigative team

A woman from Kangiqsualujjuaq faces several drug charges after police say they intercepted a shipment of methamphetamines and cannabis en route to the community last spring.
The woman was allegedly attempting to send packages containing both drugs on a flight to Kangiqsualujjuaq on May 22, 2020. Police also allege she was trying to ship cannabis to the community on April 22.
Police say the shipments were intercepted before reaching their destination.
According to the Kativik Regional Police Force, the woman is charged with one count of trafficking and one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamines, and one count of distributing more than 30 grams of dried cannabis, as well as one count of possession of dried cannabis for the purposes of distributing it.
The woman was charged Jan. 19 in Montreal, and appeared in Amos court via video conference Jan. 21. She was released on conditions.
The arrest was made by a new joint investigation team made up of Kativik police force members and the Quebec provincial police with resources to fight contraband, according to the news release from the Kativik police.
