Premier should listen to Nunavut residents

By NUNATSIAQ NEWS

Both sides of the time zone debate have credible arguments, but Ben Ell hit the nail on the head.

As a town councillor he has cast his vote based on what his constituents have told him. This is the crux of the issue. There was no public consultation prior to this decision by the Nunavut government, yet even with vehement opposition by Nunavut residents, Paul Okalik said he is refusing to even consider the status quo.

So much for a “kinder and friendlier” government. The people have spoken. Is this a democracy, or is it a clone of the old Yellowknife regime?
