Two men involved in a weekend “vehicle rollover collision” in Iqaluit have been flown south for medical treatment, an RCMP spokesperson said.

The men’s injuries are serious but not life threatening, RCMP said.

Three men were hospitalized in Iqaluit Sunday after a collision that took place at around 5:25 a.m. on Niaqunngusiariaq Road, across from the Apex Quickstop.

A third man has been released from the hospital in Iqaluit with minor injuries.

The men involved are aged 19, 23 and 23.

A black Ford 150 quad cab pickup was the only vehicle involved and initial investigations show “excessive speed and alcohol” as contributing factors.

The truck was driven down Federal Road toward the Four Corners intersection and continued onto Niaqunngusiariaq Road before losing control, the release said.

As the investigation is ongoing, RCMP said they are currently not naming the three men involved in the collision.

It said in the first article alcohol was a factor. Not surprising. I can’t think of any other explanation for a truck to roll across from Apex Quick stop. They are lucky they didn’t hit another car or a pedestrian.
