“A third vehicle nearby was prevented from becoming involved, thanks to the quick response and control of the fire by the Iqaluit Fire Department,” Cameron wrote.

She said RCMP also responded to the fire. There were no reported injuries.

In an email to Nunatsiaq News, Iqaluit RCMP said the matter is under investigation.

The cost of rent has to be high and I’m sure Nunastar can invest in purchasing security camera around the parking lots.

Yes , rent has gone up with nunastar for the past 4 years in a row for ridiculous reasons. Maybe they should have some security staff parked in there car in the parking all night so things like this don’t happen. Besides that the security team is completly useless over here, perfect example if they have seen the kids that fire could have been prevented but it wasn’t, just like the smashed windows before that , slashed tires & now this.

Even if whoever got caught the justice system in Iqaluit is a joke , they would only get a slap on the wrist. I’ve lived here for a while & seen some messed up things that get you minimum 2-3 years anywhere down south but here not even 6 months . Baffles me how the justice & health system works up here. Nunavimmiut deserve better .

    -Better justice system
    -A real Helpcenter for addictions
-Fibre optic (is on the way)
    -Better health care system
    -Laws about public drunkenness
-Laws for about kids being out after a certain time.

    Iqaluit needs change!
