Ivakkak mushers gather in a circle to pray on the race route April 6. With blizzard and whiteout conditions along Ungava Bay, dog teams travelled to reach Aupaluk, although the race was officially suspended for the day. When Tasiujaq mushers Billy Cain and his son Charlie hadn’t arrived by the end of the day, a search and rescue team set out to locate them.
