Another beach shack fire in Iqaluit: This shack stands as a charred reminder of a fire which took place June 8 at about 11 p.m. in Iqaluit. That’s when members of the Iqaluit RCMP responded to a report of a shack fire near the elders facility in the downtown core of Iqaluit. When the responders arrived at the scene the shack was fully engulfed with flames, police said in a June 9 release. The Iqaluit Fire Department was able to control the fire and put it out, the release said. “At this time there are no reports of any injuries due to the fire. The investigation, assisted by the Fire Department, revealed the cause of the fire to be non-suspicious,” police said. (PHOTO BY STEVE DUCHARME)
