An Arviat man faces nine charges, including assault and uttering threats, after he was alleged to have broken into a residence where he forcibly removed a woman in front of her mother and assaulted her.
The RCMP says they were called in the early morning of Jan. 27 to a complaints that a woman was taken from her home, police said in a Feb. 3 release.
Police allege the man assaulted the woman in front of her mother, and then took the woman away.
Police later arrested a man and charged him with three counts of assault, three counts of uttering threats, break and enter, possession of a weapon and being unlawfully inside a dwelling place.
Police did not name the man, but said he was later released by a justice of the peace, who imposed a number of conditions on the accused, including no contact with the victim or her mother.
The RCMP said the woman sustained minor injuries.
