Why can’t we buy Scotch in Nunavut?
EU seal ban resolved in Nunavut, but EU liquor ban remains

Because of a motion passed March 12, 2010 in the Nunavut legislative assembly, the Nunavut liquor system ran out of its last supplies of European liquor, beer and wine by 2011. Since then, Nunavut residents have been unable to buy products like The Glen Livet single malt whisky from the territorial government and may only acquire it from outside Nunavut with an import permit. Why can’t we buy a drink of Scotch in Nunavut?
Because of some European Union ban over seals.
That’s all done now, so the Iqaluit sewers are happy, but us Scotch drinkers are not happy because of some bureaucratic foot dragging.
I will agree there’s a lot more important things to be worrying about, but what the hell — if we are making a pile we may as well throw everything up high.
